Oh, nostalgia
I was visiting my dad's house over winter vacation, rummaging through the dark depths of his pantry when I came across a gift I had sent him while I was in Italy-- the touristy Italian flag pasta Martina and Chiara had insisted I send in my Christmas package home. It had been sitting on a shelf, unopened and uneaten, for over a year. Naturally, I was upset for a whole of five seconds. Then I got over it and decided to cook the pasta for our dinner, as my dad clearly wasn't getting around to it anytime soon. Cooking the pasta threw me into nostalgia mode (as does every time I use salt to boil water), and I was reminiscing for the rest of the night.
Farfalle (butterfly) pasta al dente. It was surprisingly good and flavorful (the green color is made with spinach and the red with tomato).
