A birthday party
Last night I went to Martina's (and my?) friend Renzo's 18th birthday party. Prior to our attendance Martina, Alessandra, Mariana
and I went to a bar, and they got vodkas mixed with red bull (I tried a bit because it was pink and looked yummy. It wasn't bad, but the alcohol was too strong for my preference). The entire situation felt completely strange, though. Here we were, seventeen, walking into a bar with various twenty and thirty-somethings lounging about, and ordering alcoholic beverages without being carded. So weird. I felt like I was on Sex and the City or something. Anyway, afterwards we went to the party, which was held in the garage of an apartment complex. They blasted their hardcore/metal music and did a lot of dancing. There was beer and wine everywhere, and everyone kept telling me that they were "a little bit drunk". I drank some pineapple flavoured Fanta and ate a piece of pizza, and then reluctantly started half-dancing when I was dragged into it. I mingled a little, met a bunch of college kids. Then it was time for the cake, which was followed by champagne! I drank a small plastic cup of it, I admit, but Alessandra had like five. Plus beer and that redbull vodka thing from earlier. Then Renzo got his present (Everyone chipped in to buy him a PS3. He freaked out. He's pretty much the coolest one I know here. Speaks no English, loves Deathnote and Fullmetal Alchemist, extremely nice, gave me the webcam). Afterwards, we went to the piazza, Marianna departed for home, and Martina, Alessandra, and I went to a local concert being held on top of the bar. On the way up, Alessandra got a beer (Can you guess what all of this drinking may be preluding?!). The band was alright. The room was packed and everyone kept singing the lyrics with them, so I know they must be pretty popular in Avellino. Then we walked home (Alessandra more like stumbled), and we all screamed a lot along the way. Upon arriving at the house, we all drank some water
(We were seriously dehydrated), and then Alessandra started throwing up. So fun! I felt pretty bad for her, but she had kind of been asking for it when she drank so much. Martina held her hair and I just sort of stood in the background awkwardly until her parents took her home. And that was pretty much it.
Other news: My class (4F) is taking off all of our classes for the next few days to stay in art and paint a huge canvas in celebration of national arts day in Italy. It's a replica of another painting I forget the name of, and it looks pretty bomb. I've been helping a little, but I am freaked out that I'm going to ruin it by misunderstanding an instruction, so I mainly try to stay out of the way. But it's fun.
